iLEAPS is the land-atmosphere core project of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP). The scientific goal of iLEAPS is to provide understanding how interacting physical, chemical and biological processes transport and transform energy and matter through the land-atmosphere interface. iLEAPS encourages international and crossdisciplinary collaboration, particularly involving scientists from the developing countries.

 
Newsletter 5 is published

iLEAPS Newsletter issue 5 has just been published. The Newsletter 5 is a special issue on Aerosols, Clouds, Precipitation, Climate initiative (ACPC) with exellent science papers related to the theme. We warmly invite you to read the issue.


The electronic version of the Newsletter is available at ileaps www-site under products. The paper version will be posted within a few days for the iLEAPS mailing list members.

Welcome to the new iLEAPS website!

The new iLEAPS website is based on Joomla, an open source content management system. iLEAPS IPO is most grateful to Asbjørn Aarflot, Risto Makkonen and Mikko Kulmala for constructing the basis for the new website. The work is still continuing and the aim is to establish interactive webpages for the multitude of iLEAPS projects, initiatives and events.

 
Indian Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences visited Univ. Helsinki and iLEAPS IPO

Indian Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Shri Kapil Sibal visited iLEAPS IPO and Department of Physics on 26 March 2008. The visit was hosted by Rector Ilkka Niiniluoto and Prof. Markku Kulmala.  During his visit land - atmosphere interaction research was widely presented.  Minister Sibal was accompanyied by Ambassador of India H.E. Pradeep Singh.
